Having an iPod is like having a mobile repository of music tracks. It’s a library of all you favorite tunes, packed in a small and discrete gadget. It’s such a cool invention, that you can have it with you at all times. But would it be appropriate at every place or situation? Let’s check out some places where this nifty gadget would seem out of place:
Church
This goes without saying. What are you doing playing rock music in a sacred and holy ground? What’s that, you’re playing Christian rock? Still, it’s highly inappropriate. You’re better off listening and singing actual hymns with a Church choir. Remember, in the first place, you’re supposed to be in church for prayer and worship, not to look cool and musically inclined. Take off your iPod and keep it in a safe place.
Library
Not unless you want to feel the wrath of your school librarian, you better shut off your iPod and keep it in your bag. You’re supposed to be reading and researching material in this establishment. Consider as well your iPod’s volume. Regardless if its at its lowest, there’s still a chance of some sound seeping off the speakers. And that is never a good thing in a place where even a drop of a small pin seems like a building toppling over.
Family Dinner
Think of your family. You seldom hang out together, even with most members living under the same roof. Play your music some other time. This instance, it’s best to catch up and share your thoughts with your close – yet distant – brothers, sisters and parents.
On a Date
So you and your girlfriend found a good restaurant to eat in. It’s got everything – nice lighting, the best dishes to choose from, even a very reasonable price. Thing is, you still can’t part with your cool iPod. Either you’re in for a world of hurt, with her giving you the most painful slap you’ll ever get in your life, or you’re going to face the saddest sob-story arcs of your days. So, choose your poison carefully.
Crossing the street – with large buses and heavy trucks rushing by
Sure, it’s a normal instance for people to travel with earphones on. Heck, it’s a great way to drown out ambient noise. You actuall see people doing all the time. Public transportation seems a lot of more reasonable, with your iPod playing the best tunes ever. Yet, you may want to stop the music, even for a little time, to cross the street. Many are the victims of this common accident, that can be prevented by simply switching off your player.
When it comes to music appreciation, an iPod has got to be the best invention ever. Yet, even with all of its benefits, you’re better off switching it off in some instances. Remember, there’s always a time for everything, even with a music player that you can bring everywhere.
